Personal philosophy on AI usage.
Writing → I do not use AI for any of my writings. Have never and will never. And the reason is very simple: this blog is a personal space; it’s not a commercial endeavor. I’m not obliged to write anything. That is also the reason why I have too few posts. I have this itch inside of me to write something, and this blog is a manifestation of that itch. So what will even be the point of using AI for writing?
Research → Okay, so I have used Perplexity in the past. I used it for 3-4 months. And I realized that I’m getting too dependent on it. For anything and everything I would just open the app and ask. So, I quit it cold turkey, because I love researching. It’s like a problem-solving exercise. And I like problem-solving. So, currently I don’t use any AI tools for research. Since I use DuckDuckGo as my search engine, my research usually starts from there.
Chatbots → Obviously used them in the past. But no, I don’t care about them; don’t use any one of them.
Coding → now this one is trickier for me. I like to build things, whether that’s constantly updating my blog or building side projects. Now for the past few months, I have fallen into the hands of coding agents. And it’s so addictive. Now for the most part this blog is hand-coded by me from scratch, but I have asked Claude Code to refactor and streamline things. So, yeah, I use "coding agents." I have earlier used Cursor; now I’m liking Claude Code. And I’m yet to form a definitive opinion on their usage.
For everything else → I avoid anything that has AI in it. Not because I hate AI, but because there was no need for AI in the first place in that product. However, I’m okay with using AI for repetitive and mundane tasks.
If anything changes, I will update on this page.
