Animal Farm

Author: George Orwell

Genre: Dystopia, Classics

5/5

I read Animal Farm back in 2016, and I didn’t get it. Thought it was just anti-communist stuff. But reading it now, it’s clearer—it’s not about any -ism. It’s about people. Power. Control. No matter the system, the result is the same: inequality. That line—“All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others”—says it all. Utopias don’t exist. We just keep pretending they might.

What I like about Orwell is that he doesn’t take sides. He’s one of the few rational political thinkers who doesn’t wave a flag or push an ideology. He just calls things for what they are.
