Finally, some good news

This is so satisfying.

I have seen people who talk to ChatGPT for everything and consult it for everything — from studies to health to anything and everything, which I guess is fine (sometimes). If you ask a question, you get a direct answer.

But people forget that—nay, people don't have the knowledge that AI is just an overconfident next-text predictor. Well, I know some people will email me saying that, no, it's no longer a next-word predictor. It's more sophisticated and smarter than that.

And I understand the sentiment. I know that. I know it's not just a statistical next-word predictor. But it's also not something as smart and intelligent as people have taken this tech to be.

For most people, who are not very tech-savvy, AI is a big blanket term. For them, there's no understanding of various models or terminologies. For them, AI is something big. For them, it's superintelligence. It knows everything. It can't be wrong.

So when a friend of mine compares/verifies their exam answer sheet with ChatGPT and gets overconfident that they have scored good marks, yet still fails, their only explanation is: "But I matched it with ChatGPT. How can it be wrong?"

Well, it can be daftly wrong and stupid.

A few years ago, I remember, when this whole AI shenanigan started, there was a trend of students appearing for various government exams approaching various courts, challenging the answer keys based on screenshots of their conversations with ChatGPT.

Thank God, courts didn't accept it.

The whole hype and frenzy—and sort of a mass hysteria—around AI has been created by people with little to no knowledge.

A little knowledge is dangerous.

So when people think of AI, they think of this behemoth entity that is all-knowing and all-powerful.

But ignorance can still be forgiven. The real hysteria is created by those almost-psychopathic tech billionaires making ridiculous claims of living in a utopia by 2035.

It's ridiculous. But it's so satisfying to read news like this. We need to give this bullshit a reality check from time to time.

That's about it.

Seeyaa.
